The Home Improvement Trust arranges low cost advances enabling Older People to live safely and independently in their own homes, helping to prevent poor health and reducing the need for residential care.

The Home Improvement Trust is a 'not for profit' company limited by guarantee that provides a service which is unique in the United Kingdom. The Trust has been established to provide a national service with grant support under the Special Grants Programme of the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions-DETR. The purpose is develop and make available alternative, affordable funding to supplement the Housing Renewal Grant programme. 

The Trust works on behalf of Older Homeowners and those with disabilities, to make Equity Release more accessible, whereby, they may release some of the equity tied up in their homes, in order to fund repairs, improvements or adaptations.

Our partnership approach works the Country with Home Improvement Agencies-HIAs, Local Authorities, Health Care Agencies and the Lending institutions- Banks and Building Societies; arranging safe and secure, equity release finance for funding repairs, improvements and adaptations - for Older Homeowners and those with disabilities, living in urban and rural areas.

The Trust, as a 'not for profit' organisation, acts as the impartial intermediary, facilitating the independent financial advice, the property valuation, liaising with the lending Building Society or Bank
